The Mid-Year Book Freak-Out

I wasn’t tagged my anyone but I saw this tag on Aimals blog: Bookshelves and Paperbacks. So please go over to her blog, because it is amazing!! Give her a follow if you don’t follow her already J This tag looked like a lot of fun so I wanted to give it a go:

Best book you’ve read so far in 2016
This one was easy for me: The Raven King of course!!! There are no words to express how much I love the Raven Cycle!! I recently read the whole series for the first time and it the series started out phenomenal!! And it got better with each book!! So it is quite logical that the Raven King is the best book I have read so far!! And I don’t think that there will be a lot of books that can surpass this one :) The end left me mind blown!! I wasn’t ready for it to end!! I still feel like crying every single time I think about all these amazing characters and their unique story!! I wish I could jump in the book and live in Henrietta with them! Oh and I want to visit Cabeswater so badly!! This is by far the best series I have ever read!!

Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2016
A Court of Mist and Fury was by far the best sequel I have read so far this year!! It practically blew me away!! It left me speechless! I mean I loved a Court of Thorns and Roses, and the Throne of glass series is also in my top three favourite series so I know that Sarah J. Maas can write phenomenally!! But I really think that this is her best book yet!! So naturally I was expecting a lot from this book but it turned out to be even beyond my expectations!! I fell in love with all the new characters and I wish I could go to the Night Court!! And that plot twist at the end!? Brilliant!! It left me mind blown!! I cannot wait until the third book releases but I will have to wait such a long time!! I don’t think I can handle that!!

New release you haven’t read but want to
I am so ashamed that I haven’t read this book yet!! I reread the whole Infernal Devices trilogy and the Mortal Instruments trilogy because of this books release! And I still haven’t read it yet….. I do have it on my shelf but for some reason I keep procrastinating…. It’s just that, if I read it now I will have to wait such a long time for the sequel! I know that’s not a good excuse but still :) I want to read all the tales from the shadowhunter academy as well before I dive into this book. I am about halfway through those and I really love it!! I am not really an e-book reader so I am procrastinating with those too…. Whoops….. :) But I promise that I will read them as soon as possible!! (meaning when I have money :))

Most anticipated releases for the second half of the year

These were almost impossible to narrow down to a reasonable answer!! There are so many amazing books released in the second half of the year!! But I think that I am anticipating these three the most especially Empire of Storms!! Empire of Storms is by far my most anticipated read of this whole year!! I don’t think I can wait any longer!! I need it now!! :) And how could I not be excited about The Hammer of Thor!! Rick Riordan is (together with Sarah J. Maas) my favourite author of all times!! And I love each and every one of his series!! I also read an Ember in the Ashes earlier this year and it was epic!! I am so excited for A Torch against the Night!! I can’t wait to read it!! And who isn't excited for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child!!

Biggest disappointment

I honestly do not have an answer for this one!! All the books I have read this year were absolutely amazing!! I can’t point out a single one that I didn’t like or got below 3.5 stars!! None of them were disappointing! Most of them were actually even better than I expected!!

Biggest surprise
I honestly wasn’t really interested in reading this series… I did hear a lot of great things about though but the story synopsis just wasn’t it for me so I decided not to read it… my sister did buy and read them though and she was obsessed!! She practically begged me to read them so I did eventually. And I actually liked them a lot!! (Okay let’s be honest I Loved them!!) It honestly was a big and pleasant surprise and I regret that I didn’t read them sooner!! I fell in love with Maxon and the story!! At the beginning I didn’t really like America because I couldn’t really relate to the choices she made but that didn’t last long!! It only took a little while for me to love her character as well!!

Favourite new author
Maggie Stiefvater, without a doubt!! I fell in love with her Raven Cycle and I will definitely buy more of her books in the future!! She just has a way with words!! It made me fall in love with the story, the characters, the places, literally everything about the Raven Cycle!! I am obsessed with it! And I can’t thank Maggie Stiefvater enough for writing this amazing, phenomenal series!! I am looking forward to reading more of her books soon!!

Favourite new crush
This one is easy as well :) Gansey of course!! I am quite sure that I already mentioned how obsessed I am with this book series!! :) But it is just soo goooodd!! And I love all of the Raven Boys but Gansey is my favourite!! He is definitely my new book crush!! :) I wish I could jump into the book and live with him in Monmouth Manufacturing! How amazing would that be!!? I just love everything about him!! He is so sweet and kind!! I also have a slight crush on the other Raven Boys, Adam, Ronan and Noah :) I just love them together as a group!! I wish Maggie Stiefvater would write more books in this series!! I don’t want it to end!! My review: The Raven Boys – Maggie Stiefvater

Favourite new characters
Yupp, once again I will use the Raven Cycle in this tag, and I am not sorry :) I just love these characters so much!! Gansey, Adam, Ronan, Noah and Blue!! And of course all the amazing women from 300 Fox Way!! Even the Grey Man has a special place in my heart!! These characters will stay with me forever!! I just feel like I really got to know them over the course of these four books!! I always love it when books a character driven and Maggie Stiefvater wrote that exceptionally well!! And I know that I have mentioned this before but I feel like crying every time I think about the fact that this series is over… I am going to miss them so much!! My review for this book: The Dream Thieves – Maggie Stiefvater

A book that made you cry
I don’t even have to think about this :) The Problem with Forever wrecked me in so many ways!! I couldn’t stop crying during and after I read this book!! It was just so emotional and heart breaking!! I could really relate to Mallory’s anxiety and fear of talking to people… This book just kept tearing me apart, in the best way possible! :) The Problem with Forever was the first book I have read by Jennifer L. Armentrout and I am so glad that I read it. I will definitely read more of her books in the near future!! Does anyone know any other good books written by her? Let me know in the comments if you want to :) I’d appreciate that! ;)

A book that made you happy
This was just one of those funny, short, feel-good reads that leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling!! This book was so cute and I loved reading it!! I made me really happy!! I loved the dreams in this book! It made things light and it was really funny to read them, especially because they are a treat to your imagination and I loved that!! They were really well written!! The characters also made me really happy! they were all so lovely! I kind of wish it was longer though!! But other than that it was a perfect read!! highly recommendable!! And the cover is gorgeous!! I love looking at it and using it in bookish pictures!! I have done a full review on this book: Dreamology -  Lucy Keating

Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year
I don’t think I need to  explain anything about these, the covers are a given :) Aren’t they Gorgeous!!!! My favourite of these four is the Raven King! I just love it if there is blue in the cover :)

What books do you need to read before the end of the year?
I need to read these books as soon as possible because I will never read them otherwise :) my TBR list keeps growing and I want to read these books so badly!! I’ve heard so many great things about them!! I actually need to read shadow and bone because I really want to read six of crows but they are set in the same world so the Grisha trilogy is a must read :) But I have also heard amazing things about it so I don’t really mind :) And there is so much hype going on for the lunar chronicles and the falling kingdoms series, I am really curious about them!!

So that was the midyear book freakout tag! :) I hope that you enjoyed reading it :) Since I don't know how to tag someone and I don't want to force this tag up on someone, because it is rather long :) You can all tag yourself if you want :) So if you would like to do this tag, consider yourself tagged :) I hope everyone is having a lovely day!!
